FAQ
Florida homeowners insurance questions
Does homeowners insurance cover hurricane damage?
Wind damage from a hurricane is typically covered, but usually under a separate hurricane or wind deductible. Flooding from storm surge or rising water is not covered by a standard home policy — you need a separate flood policy, which we can add.
Do I need flood insurance if I'm not in a flood zone?
Often, yes. Roughly a quarter of flood claims come from outside high-risk zones. In Florida it's some of the most valuable coverage you can carry, and it's usually affordable in low-risk areas.
Why did my home insurance get cancelled or non-renewed?
Several Florida carriers have pulled back or failed in recent years. If you've been non-renewed, we can shop the carriers still actively writing and usually find you a replacement quickly.
What is a 4-point or wind mitigation inspection?
Older homes may need a 4-point inspection (roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and a wind mitigation inspection can earn you significant discounts for storm-resistant features. We'll tell you if you need one and how it affects your rate.
